What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Associate & Relief Driver position at Great Plains Food Bank?
The warehouse
associate is responsible for supporting the warehouse operations through
receiving, handling, storing, transferring, and picking activities for
distribution of products at our statewide distribution center. With our values

Core Accountabilities and Essential Duties
1.
Warehouse Work
The warehouse
associate supports distribution, inventory and cleaning activities in the
warehouse.

Responds to agency pickup
requests that are scheduled through agency services that include assisting
loading partner agency or volunteer vehicles.
·
Sweeps, dusts, or mops
warehouse to ensure cleanliness and orderliness in accordance with AIB
standards and regulations.
·
Maintains and organizes
loading dock, cooler and freezer area daily to ensure efficiency.
·
Picks partner agency orders
in an accurate and efficient manner from warehouse floor and/or cooler and
freezer section.
·
Assists with
shipping/receiving of products including loading and unloading of trucks which
is assigned by shipping and receiving manager.
·
Checks-in merchandise and
tracks inventory if needed.
·
Moves merchandise from
receiving and storage areas to shipping or designated areas.
·
Places items on racks,
shelves, or bins according to product codes and/or warehouse safety standards.
·
Verifies goods received
through inventory counts and documentation.
·
Rotates stock to ensure food
safety measures are followed.
·
Maintains and organizes
supply and packaging materials.
·
Assists inventory manager
with any cycle, monthly or yearly inventory counts if needed.
·
Serves as Relief Driver to
help cover our dedicated retail drivers that are out on PTO or for sick days to
service our local retail donors and partners.
2.
Reporting/Paperwork
The warehouse
associate ensures thorough and timely completion of inventory reporting.

Completes paperwork as
required.
·
Files order pick up/drop off
inventory sheets.
·
Maintains records of
merchandise loaded and unloaded and distributed.
·
Keeps accurate inventory and
item weights to ensure conformance to procedures.
·
Completes other paperwork as
needed/required.
3. Route
Delivery (Relief driver)
The
local truck driver picks up and delivers products along assigned route.
·
Drives vehicle for the purpose of transporting products to/from
specified destinations.
·
Ensures the safe
operation and proper loading of assigned vehicle.
·
Operates forklift and
utilizes other equipment/tools to load/unload orders.
·
Identifies and plans
safe routes to ensure economical use of time and equipment.
·
Picks up and delivers
products to charitable organizations.
·
Ensures orders and
product are processed in accordance with standards.
·
Inspects products.
·
Loads and unloads
product.
·
Ensures inventory
matches intake and order paperwork.
·
Maintains logs of picked
up and delivered products.
·
Serves as relief driver
for Bismarck Food Recovery Program.
4. Other Duties
·
Establishes
and maintains effective, courteous relationships with employees, supervisors,
clients, vendors, and the public.
·
Assists
volunteers as needed.
·
Attends
meetings and training as required.
·
Unloads/loads
inbound and outbound trailers.
·
Assists
in volunteer center as needed.
Education and
Experience
Successful candidates for this position must have a high
school diploma or GED
equivalent. Prior order picking, forklift and food handling experience
preferred with this position and must have the ability to obtain forklift
certification within 60 days of hire date along with Serv Safe Certification
and AIB training within 90 days of employment. Valid class D license with the
ability to drive 24 foot straight truck along with good driving record.
