What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver CDL A - Van&Flat Experience position at Great Northern Transportation?
We are looking for a CDL Class A driver who has the unique ability to do Flatbed and Van Freight. We mostly do regional work with a little long haul. Our guys are typically gone Monday to Friday and home on weekends. There is the opportunity to stretch out and head for WA, TX, FL and even Maine.
We do oversize specialized freight which offers excellent pay with the challenges involved, using your flatbed skills.
The tractor we are looking to fill is a 1997 Kenworth, 18 speed manual.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate trucks to transport freight to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of freight.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel use, and cargo details.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route changes or delays.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment by reporting any issues promptly.
- Foster positive relationships with clients through professional conduct during deliveries.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers or similar vehicles.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and regulations within the transportation industry.
- Ability to load and unload cargo safely and efficiently.
- Experience operating tankers or refrigerated trailers is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with dispatchers and clients.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle maintenance is beneficial but not required.
