Position Overview
Great Northern Engineering is seeking an experienced Inspector and Field Supervisor to join our team. This position involves inspection, repair, alteration, and reconstruction of aboveground storage tanks and piping in accordance with API 653, API 570, and STI-SP001 standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of aboveground storage tanks and piping per applicable API 653, API 570, and STI-SP001 standards
- Conduct thickness measurements using ultrasonic testing equipment
- Evaluate tank condition and prepare detailed inspection reports
- Recommend repair, alteration, or reconstruction procedures
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards
- Prepare and delivery inspection deliverables to customers
- Coordinate with clients on inspection schedules
- Maintain accurate documentation and records
- Support tank maintenance and integrity management programs
- Provide technical expertise on tank design and construction requirements
- Train and mentor inspection technicians
- Direct inspection support personnel
- Support inspection business growth through fostering customers relationships, preparing proposals, etc.
Required Qualifications
- API 653 Tank Inspector and STI-SP001 Tank Inspector
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in tank inspection or related field
- Strong knowledge of API 650, API 653, and applicable codes
- Proficiency with ultrasonic thickness testing equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites
- Physical ability to work in industrial environments and confined spaces
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional API certifications (API 570, API 510)
- Experience with tank repair and alteration projects
- Knowledge of welding procedures and inspection techniques
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
- OSHA 30-hour training certification
