Job Summary:
Confidential Company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Supervisor to lead daily operations in our manufacturing facility. The Supervisor will oversee a production team, ensure quality standards and drive efficiency in the manufacturing process. This position requires a hands-on leader with expertise in building products manufacturing and team management.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating workflow, ensuring product quality, managing safety standards, and maintaining production schedules in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety by enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
- Identify potential hazards in the work environment and take proactive steps to prevent accidents.
- Ensure that the department is maintained in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and lead a team of production workers in the final stage before assembly and quality control.
- Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and provide coaching and training to enhance skills and productivity.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and communication.
Quality Control:
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all products meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Perform routine inspections of work-in-progress and finished products, addressing any defects or inconsistencies.
- Provide feedback and corrective actions to workers to ensure continuous improvement in quality standards.
Inventory and Materials Management:
- Monitor material usage and ensure adequate inventory levels for smooth production operations.
- Minimize waste and optimize the use of resources to control production costs.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes and increase efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lead projects aimed at improving productivity and product quality.
- Analyze production data and implement strategies to resolve bottlenecks and improve workflow.
Reporting:
- Track and report daily production metrics, including output, efficiency, and downtime.
- Prepare reports on team performance, quality control issues, and production targets for upper management.
- Work closely with management to address any issues that could affect delivery schedules or product quality.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience with wood products manufacturing equipment is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and coach a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate machinery as needed.
- Comfortable with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing setting.
