POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the overall leadership and day-to-day operations of Great Maple while helping create an exceptional experience for both our guests and team members. Working closely with the General Manager and restaurant leadership team, the AGM helps ensure consistent execution of Great Maple’s service standards, operational expectations, financial goals, safety requirements, and workplace policies.
The AGM is a highly visible, hands-on leader who is expected to be present on the floor, actively support the team during service, coach and develop team members and leaders, resolve operational concerns, and maintain accountability throughout the restaurant.
This position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, attention to detail, hospitality, and the ability to balance the needs of our guests, team members, and business.
LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS
Great Maple Assistant General Managers are expected to:

- Know when to escalate. Partner with senior leadership or Human Resources when circumstances require additional support.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2–3 years of restaurant leadership or management experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a high-volume, full-service, upscale-casual, hotel, or hospitality environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations and guest-service standards.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism during challenging situations.
- Experience with scheduling, labor management, cash controls, inventory, and restaurant financial performance preferred.
- Working knowledge of food safety and responsible alcohol-service practices.
- Ability to learn and consistently apply Great Maple policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Basic proficiency with restaurant technology, scheduling systems, point-of-sale systems, email, and standard business applications.
- Must possess or obtain required food-handler, food-manager, responsible beverage service, or other certifications applicable to the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the position.
The Assistant General Manager must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently move throughout dining, kitchen, service, storage, and other restaurant areas.
- Bend, reach, stoop, crouch, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements as required by restaurant operations.
- Lift and/or move restaurant supplies, products, or equipment consistent with operational needs and applicable safety practices.
- Work in environments that may include heat, cold, noise, wet surfaces, food preparation areas, and changing temperatures.
- Safely navigate a fast-paced restaurant environment.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
Restaurant operations require schedule flexibility. The Assistant General Manager must generally be available to work a schedule based on business needs, which may include:
- Days and evenings
- Weekends
- Holidays
- Opening and closing shifts
- Extended or adjusted hours when reasonably required by business operations
- Special events, training, and meetings
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
