Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences, ensuring optimal fit and comfort.
- Dispense spectacle lenses and perform precise eyewear fittings, including adjustments to frames for proper alignment and comfort.
- Conduct comprehensive optical assessments, including ability to troubleshoot eyewear with patient complaints of distortion, optical/mechanical error and image jump.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries, explaining medical terminology clearly, and guiding them through their eyewear options.
- Maintain detailed electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) while adhering to clinic experience protocols, health regulation policies, and state healthcare regulations.
- Perform eyewear frame adjustments and optical laboratory procedures with precision to ensure the highest quality standards for each patient.
- Support clinical staff with senior care patients by understanding anatomy knowledge, physiology, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Uphold aseptic techniques during all procedures to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an optician with retail management experience or retail optometry background preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology practices, optics, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to eye care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems or similar platforms used in clinical settings.
- Ability to perform spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and optical laboratory tasks confidently.
- Knowledge of health regulation policies including HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and medical billing procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex medical information clearly and compassionately.
- Basic math skills for retail math calculations related to sales transactions and insurance processing.
- Aseptic technique proficiency to ensure safety during all clinical procedures.
