Reports To: The Line Cook / Kitchen Team Member will report to the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager.

Supervised By: Executive Chef and Kitchen Supervisor

Job Overview:
As a Line Cook / Kitchen Team Member, you play a vital role in delivering high-quality dining experiences for our guests. You are responsible for preparing food in a timely, efficient, sanitary, and consistent manner while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.

Your role requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized while managing multiple tasks. You will be expected to follow recipes, maintain cleanliness, and ensure all food meets presentation and safety standards. Your performance directly impacts guest satisfaction and the overall reputation of the hotel’s food and beverage operations.


Responsibilities and Duties:

Food Preparation and Execution:
❖ Prepare and cook menu items across various stations including pantry, fry, and hot line.
❖ Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
❖ Ensure all food is prepared in a timely, consistent, and high-quality manner.
❖ Prepare meals for guests with food allergies or dietary restrictions.

Station Setup and Maintenance:
❖ Set up and stock stations according to kitchen guidelines.
❖ Restock and prep ingredients throughout the shift.
❖ Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned station at all times.

Sanitation and Safety:
❖ Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
❖ Properly store food and chemicals according to regulations.
❖ Maintain a clean kitchen, including prep areas, walk-ins, and storage spaces.
❖ Adhere to all safety procedures including fire safety, infection control, and hazardous material handling.

Kitchen Operations Support:
❖ Assist with opening and closing duties, including turning equipment on/off and cleaning.
❖ Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
❖ Handle waste disposal including garbage, recycling, and oil.
❖ Maintain cleanliness of loading dock and kitchen laundry organization.

Team Collaboration:
❖ Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
❖ Assist with menu prep, catering, and special events.
❖ Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Quality and Efficiency:
❖ Ensure proper portion sizes and food temperatures.
❖ Maintain a consistent and efficient work pace.
❖ Prepare correct quantities to meet daily demand.
❖ Stay productive and assist with future prep when time allows.

Professional Standards:
❖ Arrive on time and maintain a strong work ethic.
❖ Wear proper uniform including non-slip shoes and maintain excellent personal hygiene.
❖ Follow all company policies and procedures.


Customer Service Excellence:

❖ Support the hotel’s commitment to quality by ensuring every dish meets guest expectations.
❖ Contribute to a positive dining experience through consistency and attention to detail.


Safety and Security:

❖ Maintain a safe working environment by following all kitchen safety protocols.
❖ Ensure proper handling and storage of all equipment and supplies.
❖ Assist in securing kitchen areas and equipment at closing.


Qualifications & Physical Requirements:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
Minimum two years of cooking experience preferred.

Certifications:
KCMO Food Handlers Card required.

Skills:

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for the entire shift, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 95 pounds. Must be comfortable working in high-temperature kitchen environments and performing repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity.


Schedule:

Full-time or part-time hours available. Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime or double shifts as required.
