Great Lakes Landscaping, a leader in the industry with 30 years of established success in Macomb and Oakland Counties, is seeking an experienced, results-driven General Manager (GM) to oversee all business operations and drive strategic growth.
The General Manager is the most senior operational leadership position, responsible for the overall success, efficiency, and financial performance of all divisions. This role requires a proven leader who can manage diverse service lines and inspire high performance across the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute strategic business plans to achieve company goals for growth, profitability, and operational efficiency across all service lines.
- Assume P&L responsibility, managing budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation to maximize financial returns.
- Identify, analyze, and implement opportunities for process improvements, technology integration, and cost controls.
2. Operational Oversight
- Direct and manage the day-to-day operations of all service divisions:
- Commercial Grounds Management (Lawn, turf, and landscape maintenance).
- Commercial Snow & Winter Maintenance (Snow removal, plowing, and de-icing).
- Residential Design/Build (Pavers, hardscapes, and outdoor living projects).
- Tree Services.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service and customer satisfaction across the entire client portfolio in Macomb and Oakland Counties.
- Oversee fleet management, equipment maintenance, and materials inventory.
3. Team & Culture Development
- Lead, mentor, and coach the management team (e.g., Division Managers, Operations Managers, Sales Leads).
- Foster a positive, safe, and accountable workplace culture that attracts, retains, and develops top talent.
- Oversee HR functions, including performance management, compensation planning, and staffing.
4. Sales & Client Relationship Management
- Work closely with the Sales team to develop pricing strategies, secure major contracts, and expand market share.
- Maintain and strengthen key client relationships, serving as a primary escalation point for critical issues.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of senior management or General Manager experience in the landscaping, construction, grounds management, or a closely related service industry.
- Proven P&L and financial management experience is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage operations across diverse, multi-faceted divisions (e.g., recurring services, seasonal services, and construction projects).
- Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of industry best practices, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Landscape Management, or a related field is highly preferred.
