JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Fisheries Aide – Fall 2026

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a limited-term (LTE) position. Dates of employment are not fixed but are anticipated to begin the week of September 14 and continue through the week of October 19.

WAGES:

  • $15.00 per hour; 1-4 years of service
  • $16.00 per hour: 5-9 years of service
  • $17.00 per hour; 10 years of service

Note: This position is classified as 100% tax-exempt for qualified tribal members under Internal Revenue Code §7873–Tax Exemption for Income Derived from Treaty Fishing Rights-Related Activities.

SUPERVISION: Reports to GLIFWC Inland Fisheries Biologist.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with nighttime electrofishing surveys of walleye recruitment and gamefish communities in Ceded Territory waterbodies. Persons will help net fish, launch and/or operate boats, and collect biological information. The ability to travel for up to three consecutive weeks is required. Overnight lodging, per diem, and mileage are provided by GLIFWC.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to lift fish out of water and into livewells on survey vessels using dip nets. Ability to identify gamefish and panfish. Willingness to work in inclement conditions. Persons will be expected to follow all safety and personnel protocols, collect information in an efficient manner, and record data neatly and accurately. Vehicle and driver’s license are preferred but not required. Preference given to persons with previous GLIFWC employment.
