Position Summary
Starting up to $30.00/Hour dependent on qualifications
We are seeking a skilled CNC Mill Setup Technician to support machining operations by setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting CNC milling machines to produce high-quality precision parts. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, setting tooling and offsets, performing first-piece inspections, and maintaining efficient machine operation while meeting safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up CNC milling machines for production runs according to job travelers, blueprints, and specifications
- Install and tram fixtures, vises, tooling, and workholding devices
- Set tool offsets, work offsets, and perform machine/fixture adjustments as needed
- Conduct first-piece inspections using precision measuring equipment
- Troubleshoot machining issues including tooling wear, dimensional concerns, and machine alarms
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, work instructions, and setup sheets
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean work area
- Work closely with machinists, programmers, quality personnel, and supervisors to improve production processes
- Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical school or machining certification preferred
- 4 years of CNC mill setup experience preferred
- Experience with DN Solutions & FANUC controls preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and understand geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
- Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining practices
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with Fusion 360
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, steels, and plastics
- Knowledge of continuous improvement practices
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Experience working in a job shop or production environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally
- Frequent bending, reaching, and machine interaction required
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise & coolant
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and machine shop environment
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production demands
