GM Siemens Powertrain PLC Programmer – Wixom, MI

We are looking for experienced GM Controls Engineers / PLC Programmers with strong Siemens Powertrain experience. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience working within General Motors manufacturing standards and programming, debugging, commissioning, and supporting automated production cells.

The position will initially support controls programming and debugging of manufacturing cells in Wixom, Michigan, followed by travel to destination plants for installation, startup, commissioning, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Program, modify, and debug Siemens PLC control systems for automated manufacturing and Powertrain applications.
• Perform PLC programming, troubleshooting, and controls integration for automated assembly and manufacturing cells.
• Support GM Controls standards, specifications, and plant requirements.
• Debug automated cells during machine build and integration in Wixom, MI.
• Perform onsite installation, startup, commissioning, and system validation at GM destination plants.
• Troubleshoot PLC logic, electrical controls, field devices, sensors, actuators, communications, and automation equipment.
• Support equipment integration with HMI, robotics, safety systems, drives, and industrial networks.
• Work with engineering, electrical, robotics, and mechanical teams during equipment launch and production support.
• Diagnose controls issues and make programming changes required to achieve production readiness.
• Provide onsite technical support during equipment installation, launch, and final acceptance.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as a PLC Programmer, Controls Engineer, or Controls Programmer in automotive manufacturing.
• Proven experience with Siemens PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Previous GM Powertrain or General Motors manufacturing controls experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of GM Controls Standards and GM automation requirements.
• Experience programming and debugging automated assembly or manufacturing cells.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal, STEP 7, or related Siemens automation software.
• Experience with HMI programming, industrial networking, electrical troubleshooting, and controls integration.
• Experience supporting machine startup, commissioning, debug, and production launches.
• Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and control system documentation.
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer plants for installation, startup, commissioning, and launch support.
