Job Summary
The Member Relations Specialist works directly with members to resolve delinquent loan accounts while maintaining positive relationships. This role focuses on collecting past-due payments, creating repayment solutions, and ensuring loan documentation complies with credit union policies and regulations.
The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and skilled at balancing member service with protecting credit union assets.
Responsibilities
- Contact members with delinquent accounts by phone and mail to discuss repayment options.
- Counsel members on strategies to bring accounts current and develop customized payment plans when needed.
- Analyze borrowers’ financial situations and recommend appropriate collection actions.
- Recommend repossession of collateral when other repayment options are unsuccessful.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to collection activity.
- Review loan documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with credit union policies and regulations.
- Communicate and correct documentation errors in a timely manner.
- Testify in legal proceedings when required.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices related to collections and lending.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of related experience in collections, lending, financial services, or customer service preferred
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to handle sensitive financial conversations with professionalism and empathy
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Windows
We’re seeking someone who can balance member service with responsible collections, communicate clearly, and maintain professionalism while working through sensitive financial situations.
Pay: From $16.50 per hour
