Customer Service Team Member

Charlottesville Great Harvest Bakery & Café is looking for a dynamic Front of House Team Member to deliver the ultimate "WOW" experience to our customers. As the face of our bakery, you won’t just ring up sales—you will share your passion for whole grains, offer generous warm bread slices at our legendary counter, craft gourmet made-to-order sandwiches, and build a vibrant neighborhood community.

Key Responsibilities

• The Breadboard Tradition: Enthusiastically greet every customer walking through the door and pro-actively offer them a fresh, warm slice of bread from our tasting board.
• Customer Service & Sales: Provide friendly, fast, and helpful service. Answer questions about our rotating specialty breads, sweets, and milling process.
• Made-to-Order Station: Slice fresh deli meats and cheeses, prep vegetables, and follow recipes to create exceptional hot and cold paninis, sandwiches, and salads quickly under pressure.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience: Previous food service, café, or retail experience is preferred but not required.
• Point of Sale (POS): Accurately take customer orders, process cash and card payments, and handle call-in or delivery orders.
• Product Merchandising: Slice, bag, label, and attractively display daily baked breads, cookies, muffins, and scones.
• Bakery Cleanliness: Maintain a spotless front-of-house area by wiping tables, sweeping, washing dishes, and executing opening/closing cleaning checklists.
• Soft Skills: A genuinely warm personality, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to keep your cool during the busy breakfast and lunch rushes.
• Pace & Stamina: Ability to "hustle" at all times while maintaining precision, neatness, and safety.
• Physical Demands: Ability to stand on your feet for an entire shift and comfortably lift up to 25–50 lbs (baskets of bread, flour bags, or catering orders).
• Availability: Must be able to work a minimum of 4 shifts per week which will include Saturdays. Shifts are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 10:30 AM - 6:30 PM.

Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
