What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landscape Foreman position at Great Grounds Outdoor?
Landscaping Foreman
Great Grounds Outdoor is looking for a Landscaping Foreman to run day to day operations on our project crew. This isn't a mow and go crew, we handle everything from fall pruning and bed installs to retaining wall rebuilds and drainage work. We need someone who can show up to a job site, read the scope, and lead a crew through it start to finish without needing to be micromanaged.
You'll be the one on site making sure the work matches what was sold, keeping the crew on schedule, and making judgment calls when something comes up that wasn't in the original plan. If you take pride in leaving a property looking clean and finished every time, this is the role for you.
What Makes Us Different
Great Grounds Outdoor isn't a big box operation, we're a local, hands on company built around doing the job right the first time. Every quote we send is detailed and specific, so when you show up on site you know exactly what was promised to the customer and what a finished job is supposed to look like. We invest in proper systems, real equipment, and clear job scopes instead of running crews blind off a vague work order. As we grow, we're building this company to be a place where a good foreman can take real ownership, not just punch a clock.
Responsibilities
- Lead a 1-2 person crew through daily job scopes including mulch application, plant installation, bed formation, pruning, and hardscape work like retaining walls and timber borders
- Read and interpret job quotes so the crew executes the exact scope that was sold, no shortcuts and no scope creep
- Set up proper bases, drainage, and grading before any hardscape or retaining wall install begins
- Operate and direct use of equipment including mini excavators, skid steers, and standard landscape hand tools
- Manage material needs on site, order or request additional mulch, stone, soil, or block as jobs require
- Communicate directly with the office or ownership when a job scope changes or an issue is found on site
- Do a full site cleanup and debris haul off at the end of every job before leaving the property
- Train and hold crew members accountable to Great Grounds' quality standards on every job
- Take before and after photos on site for documentation and marketing
Experience
- 3 years in landscaping or hardscape construction, with at least 1 year in a lead or foreman role
- Hands on experience with retaining wall installation, block work, and drainage systems
- Experience with plant installation and bed design, comfortable reading a planting layout and executing it correctly
- Comfortable operating skid steers, mini excavators, and other landscape equipment
- Strong communication skills, you're able to explain scope and progress clearly to ownership and to customers on site
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites
- Physically able to handle full days of manual labor in all types of weather
If you know how to run a crew and take ownership of a job site like it's your own business, we want to hear from you.
