Job Overview
This position is responsible for completing a wide variety of food-service related tasks in order to ensure the students of Great Falls Public Schools have access to nutritious meals served in a student-centered environment. Responsibilities may include cashiering, serving, identifying reimbursable meals, receiving, dishwashing, general kitchen clean-up and teamwork.
Qualifications:
- Must enjoy working with students
- Ability to take and follow directions
- Ability to complete a food handler’s course
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous food service experience
- Basic computer/technology skills
- Reliable attendance
- Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of eligibility status
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Ability to document and maintain accurate records
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, parents, etc.
Essential Functions:
The Food Service Employee will:
- Implement meal service according to USDA meal patterns and Offer vs. Serve
- Utilize appropriate portion sizes for each grade level
- Maintain appropriate and safe food handling techniques including preparation and service methods
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workplace
- Follow all District cash handling and student meal accounting system procedures
- Accurately charge students for reimbursable meals and/or a la carte sales
- Provide service in a helpful, courteous manner with speed and efficiency
- Assist with all required paperwork including, but not limited to, food and supply orders, production and receiving records and cooler/freezer temperature logs
- Comply with all District safety policies and procedures
- Communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers, staff, students and the public
- Engage with students in a professional, respectful manner that fosters a positive environment
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Pay: $14.44 - $18.93 per hour
