CDL Class A Driver

Job Description:

At Great Central Lumber & Millwork, we pride ourselves on being a regional leader in contractor sales to residential and commercial builders in the St. Louis area. We are seeking applicants who hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A License with Air Brake Endorsement, to transport and deliver residential and commercial building material via semi-tractor with flatbed roll-off trailer to commercial and residential contractors in a safe and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

• Assists in the loading and/or securing the material on trucks daily. Assists warehouse personnel in verifying materials and quantities for accuracy.
• Responsible for delivering material to both commercial and residential jobsites using the most efficient route available while observing and obeying all traffic laws and safety regulations as well as company policies/procedures.
• Unload or assists in unloading products and materials at the customer’s jobsite.
• Ensures that delivery schedules are met while providing friendly and professional customer service.
• Responsible for securing returning loads on the company vehicle prior to leaving the job site.
• Responsible for the completion of required paperwork pertaining to deliveries to ensure the accurate tracking of product and materials for inventory control management purposes.
• Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the inside and outside of delivery vehicles.
• Performs daily safety check on vehicles according to company policies/procedures and Inform dispatch or mechanic of any mechanical, electrical, or structural defects found on any trailers or tractors.

Skills:

• Must have high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) when dealing with vendors, customers, management, and team members
• Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
• Moffett experience a plus

Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years old or older.
• An acceptable driving record and valid state CDL - Class A License with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Must have current and valid Medical Certification Card.
• Pass Pre-employment DOT drug test
• Successful applicants are subject, pre-employment background check and driver history checks in accordance with applicable federal and state law.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to the elements – heat, cold, rain, wind, snow
• The physical demands of the position require an individual to have the ability to bend, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and be able to lift and/or move between 50 - 100 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
