Painter (Evening Shift)

Must be qualified to prepare, prime, and finish paint. Performs routine and unique assembly, paint, and test operations as assigned, utilizing blueprints, drawings, specifications, jigs, fixtures, hand tools, and tooling as required. Seals parts. Loads and unloads parts and products from assembly tables, test stands, paint/dry racks, pallets, and shipping crates. Makes routine in-process and final quality checks, utilizing precision measuring instruments to ensure that parts and/or products being produced and shipped are accurate to applicable specifications. Maintains continuous quality check on all parts being assembled, painted, tested and prepared for shipment. Performs routine preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment used. Maintains a clean and organized work area. At all times, works in a safe manner. Responsible for maintaining and cleaning equipment, also handling, labeling, disposing, and preparing hazardous waste for shipment into the Hazardous Waste containers using the proper procedures, which were taught in the Hazardous Waste training program. Responsible for quality and efficient output to meet customer service and profit objectives

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

1) Working at the direction of the Production Supervisor, assemble machined and purchased parts and prepare, prime, and finish paint to blue print specifications to produce customized products to meet customer needs.

2) Record in legible hand writing, computer input or other specified method, in a timely manner, accurate assembly/material usage information to ensure the integrity and record accuracy of physical inventory and labor tracking.

3) Conduct quality checks required to assure integrity of finished product.

4) Using precision measuring instruments, ensure that parts/products meet all design specifications.

5) Must own all the tools on the required tool list or have something on open order or credit until the required tool list is fulfilled.

6) Perform routine preventive maintenance on machinery and other equipment utilized.

7) Work in other departments and job classifications as assigned.

8) Train others as assigned. Must be able to work well with others.

9) Keep machine and immediate area clean, neat and organized.

10) Responsible for maintaining and cleaning equipment, also handling, labeling, disposing, and preparing hazardous waste for shipment into the Hazardous Waste containers using the proper procedures, which were taught in the Hazardous Waste training program.

11) Facilitate the work of Great Bend industries by accomplishing assigned responsibilities in a timely, effective and efficient manner.

12) Work well with others to accomplish company objectives.

13) Work in a safe manner, supporting, by example, the Company’s safety and hazardous waste policies.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Production Supervisor, Plant Manager and other designated company officials.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

1) Coordinate with Production Supervisor, Dispatcher, Production Supervisors of other departments, Material Handlers, QA Inspectors, and others to complete the assembly schedule with quality products and ensure on-time shipments to customers.

2) Collaborate with all personnel to identify opportunities for improvement and take action to implement them.

3) Cooperate with Safety Committee members in the identification and correction of unsafe conditions and in other safety-related matters.

Ability to input data into computer program accurately and at a reasonable speed. Ability to follow instructions. Skilled in basic shop mathematics and use of precision measuring instruments. Must work well with other employees at all levels of the organization.

Effects of Errors

Errors, inattention to details, and incomplete work could result in scrap, inefficiencies, inaccurate or incomplete records, delays in shipments to customers, and failures of cylinders in the field.

Work is performed in a factory and/or warehouse environment with wide variations in temperature, and industrial chemicals. No smoking is allowed in the facility per the Kansas Clean Air Act.

1) Stand for extended periods of time on concrete.

5) Lift up to 50 pounds (overhead hoists available and to be used by employee).

6) Move arms, hands, wrists, fingers, and elbows for long uninterrupted periods of time, including pushing and pulling motions.

7) Apply maximum pressure with hands, wrists, fingers and elbows frequently.

8) Turn head and neck.

9) Move legs, feet, knees and ankles for long uninterrupted periods of time.

10) Operate overhead lift equipment frequently.

11) Operate automotive and industrial lift truck equipment occasionally if licensed as required.

12) Wear an air purifying respirator at all times required.

13) Work with and around solvents, paints, thinners, and hydraulic oil.

14) Operate air/electric powered tools such as staple gun, nail gun, saw, grinders and others.

EQUIPMENT:

Work shall be performed with tools, appliances, and equipment as approved by those agencies and bodies that have control, authority or approval of the design working ranges or limitations of those items; the employee has the responsibility to conform to those ranges and limitations.

Manufacturing equipment, painting equipment, precision measuring instruments, overhead lift equipment, walk-behind lift equipment, push carts, industrial lift truck (if licensed), computer, telephone, calculator, hand tools, and other equipment as needed.

TRAVEL:

Out of town travel is not required.

Pay: $20.14 - $24.66 per hour
