Nursing Program Director – Vocational Nursing | Academic Leadership Position

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Nursing Program Director to lead our vocational nursing program in a dynamic academic environment. This vital leadership role combines strategic program management, faculty development, clinical partnership coordination, and hands-on teaching to shape the next generation of nursing professionals. As the Program Director, you will work closely with the Administrative Nursing Director and Chief Academic Officer to ensure program excellence, regulatory compliance, and student success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct comprehensive site supervision, development, planning, coordination, and evaluation of all nursing program activities and curriculum
  • Prepare and submit required reports, surveys, and documentation for state Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) compliance and site visits
  • Develop, implement, and maintain nursing program policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Oversee student admissions processes, new student orientation, and enrollment management
  • Establish, build, and maintain clinical partnerships with healthcare facilities and community organizations
  • Evaluate clinical training sites for safety standards, adequate staffing, and alignment with learning objectives
  • Negotiate, update, and maintain clinical affiliation agreements and contracts with partner institutions
  • Lead faculty recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and professional development initiatives
  • Assign and schedule nursing faculty to courses, clinical rotations, and training sites
  • Monitor instructional quality, conduct faculty evaluations, and lead curriculum reviews and strategic planning sessions
  • Verify student completion of graduation requirements and nursing licensure eligibility
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Nursing Advisory Committee meetings with stakeholders
  • Maintain current knowledge of California vocational nursing regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices
  • Report faculty terminations to BVNPT within required 10-day timeframe
  • Fulfill 50% teaching responsibility in nursing courses
  • Collaborate with administration on special projects and program improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of professional nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
  • At least 1 year of nursing teaching or clinical supervision experience within the last 5 years, OR 3 years of nursing administration or nursing education experience
  • Completion of coursework in nursing education administration, teaching methodologies, or curriculum development
  • Strong knowledge of BVNPT regulations, accreditation standards, and vocational nursing program requirements
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience with clinical site development and healthcare partnerships
  • Proficiency with learning management systems and educational technology
