Reports to: Community Participation Services (CPS) Program Manager

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Hours: Full Time; Typically Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm; Schedule may need to occasionally be flexible depending on business needs

Work Location: This role will primarily be out of our Dover office but may need to travel up to 50% of their workweek 


Summary:

The Adaptive Sports & Special Olympics Coordinator assists the CPS Program Manager in leading a team who provide community-based supports to individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities. The position is full-time with access to paid time off and health insurance.


Overview:

The supports provided out of our offices facilitate the community engagement of individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities. The Senior Direct Support Professional will have as much as 25 to 30 hours of direct service along with 10 to 15 hours of other duties and responsibilities. The Adaptive Sports & Special Olympics Coordinator is responsible for developing, leading, and maintaining the Adaptive Sports program & Special Olympics participation, reporting to the CPS Program Manager. This role also works together with the Program Manager to provide the team with leadership, professional guidance, and general administrative work.


Each Direct Support Professional (DSP) works with a small group of program members each day, engaging them in community outings as well as a variety of classes led by colleagues, including art, music, reading & writing skills, yoga, and other interests & goals set by the individuals themselves on a yearly basis.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Adaptive Sports & Special Olympics Coordinator: 


  • Under guidance from the CPS Manager, develop, lead, and maintain the Adaptive Sports program. This is to include community outreach, staff training, and public representation of the program.
  • Under guidance from the CPS Manager, develop, lead, and maintain participation in Special Olympics NH. This is to include all requisite paperwork/administration, community outreach, staff training, and public representation of the program.
  • Assist the Program Manager in overseeing daily operations of the team, including taking responsibility for daily operations when the Program Manager is out of the office.
  • Assist the Program Manager in ensuring that proper reporting & filing is handled in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Assist the Program Manager in additional tasks as assigned.

 

Inclusive of Responsibilities as Direct Support Professional: 

  • Always ensure safety of members.
  • Provide instructional support while assisting members with the implementation of their yearly Individual Service Agreement goals and encouraging independence.
  • Promote quality community connections for members while seeking opportunities in recreational, social, and vocational activities.
  • Timely completion of all required paperwork, i.e. daily notes, mileage logs, timesheets, progress notes and incident reports.
  • Provide transportation for members in the community using your personal vehicle. (Mileage is reimbursed)
  • Be a positive role model with strong advocacy toward member rights and choice.
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings including Individual Service Agreement meetings as an integral member of the team.
  • Work with individuals who may display mal-adaptive/assaultive behaviors.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids – noting that Great Bay Services is taking precautions around the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Lifting, bending, sitting, walking, running, stooping, carrying objects and other physical movements.
  • Work in various seasonal weather conditions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and valid vehicle inspection sticker.
  • Carry mandatory auto insurance of no less than 100K/300K.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this role.

 

Qualifications: 

  • At least 2 years’ experience working as a Direct Support Professional.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 
  • Certified DSPs preferred; training will be provided if needed
  • He-M 1201 Administration of Medications in Developmental Services Programs training will be provided to those candidates without it  
  • Completion of TB Test
  • Prior experience working with adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred, but not required 
  • First Aid & CPR Certified; training will be provided if needed
  • Valid Driver’s License with a legally registered vehicle 
  • Carry Mandatory Auto Insurance of no less than 100K/300K
  • Must pass routine criminal background check, DHHS background check, motor vehicle check, and any others required to comply with Medicaid funding
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to interface easily with people we support, team members, senior management, and Board of Directors
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and situations.


Salary : $20 - $22
