What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crane Climber position at Grays Tree Service?
Key responsibilities
- Operate a variety of cranes to lift, move, and position heavy loads.
- Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of the crane and lifting equipment to ensure proper working order and identify any safety issues.
- Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating, and make minor repairs as needed.
- Read and interpret load charts and blueprints to determine the correct configuration for each lift.
- Communicate clearly with ground crews, riggers, and supervisors via radio or other signals to ensure safe and coordinated lifting operations.
- Identify and address potential hazards on the job site, including ground stability and overhead obstructions.
- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Safely climb cranes, sometimes to significant heights, while using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating cranes in a construction environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, squatting, and bending.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding load charts, blueprints, and other construction documents.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and random testing.
