We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and motivated Qualified Professional (QP) to serve as Head Supervisor, overseeing program operations, staff development, and client care in accordance with NC DHHS and Medicaid standards.
Position: Qualified Professional (QP) – Head SupervisorJob Summary
The QP Head Supervisor will lead and oversee the Behavioral Health & Community Innovations Services team, ensuring compliance with NC service definitions, high-quality service delivery, proper documentation, staff supervision, and adherence to agency policies and state regulations. The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, clinical knowledge, and experience working with individuals with mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD), or substance use disorders.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesSupervision & Leadership
- Provide clinical and administrative supervision to Paraprofessional staff, Direct Support Professionals, and Associate Professionals.
- Conduct weekly or monthly supervision sessions, audits, and field observations.
- Ensure all services adhere to NC Medicaid Service Definitions and DHHS guidelines.
- Oversee onboarding, training, and competency evaluations for staff.
Client Care & Case Management
- Complete and oversee service notes, PCPs, documentation, and treatment plan updates.
- Monitor client progress, safety, and satisfaction.
- Coordinate with families, guardians, care coordinators, and external providers.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning meetings.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Review documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and billing compliance.
- Ensure staff adhere to confidentiality, HIPAA, and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Program Management.
- Provide leadership during emergencies and critical incidents.
- Support program growth, community partnerships, and service development.
- Maintain required ongoing trainings and certifications.
Required Qualifications (North Carolina QP Requirements)
To meet NC DHHS standards, candidates must qualify as a QP through one of the following pathways:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field 2 years post-degree experience with the population served (MH/I-DD/SUD), OR
- Master’s degree in a Human Services field 1 year experience, OR
- Licensed professional (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LPA, RN), OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a non-human services field 4 years experience with the population served.
Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of NC Medicaid services, Innovations Waiver, and service definitions preferred.
- Valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Able to pass background checks and meet state hiring standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and documentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple staff and caseload responsibilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supervising and training staff for innovation services/behavioral health services.
- PCT, NCI, CPR/First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong organizational and crisis-management skills.
