Graymont Superior is seeking a well-organized, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Process Engineer at the Superior, WI location. This individual will lead numerous technical items within the plant, but not limited to, managing capital projects and analyzing and identifying process improvement opportunities involving safety, efficiency, quality, calcination, combustion, hydration, slaking, crushing, screening, storage, and lime/limestone handling. The keys to success will be: A strong focus on safety, open/honest communication, and teamwork; A continuous improvement attitude in all aspects of both personal performance and the plant operation; The ability to provide leadership for the operation to ensure safe, efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective production of lime and limestone products.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the highest standards are achieved in the areas of safety, process efficiency, and quality control
- Participate in cross-functional teams to continuously improve plant technical knowledge, process, and efficiency
- Identify, develop, continuously improve, and communicate the best available process practices developed within Graymont
- Develop, manage, and implement capital projects
- Keep abreast of the latest technological developments related to the lime industry
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the workforce
- Ensure that “all critical modifications” to processes are communicated and documented with Graymont’s process and engineering support group
- Function as a relief supervisor to assist with coverage for supervisory staff
- Perform on-call duties in rotation with the plant management team
Qualifications
- Education: BS Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- Professional Experience: Working experience in an industrial environment is an asset
- Systems Experience: Strong computer skills, PLC programming, and/or JDE experience is a plus
- Self-starter with very strong teamwork and communication skills
- Passionate in the pursuit of implementing process improvements and new technical initiatives
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and demands
- Basic financial management skills (analysis, budgeting and planning)
- Ability and desire to work in a team environment with all plant personnel
- Must be willing to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines or to ensure resolution of plant problems
