The successful candidate is expected to learn and be proficient in all equipment used in the drilling and blasting at Indian Creek.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities of the position may include, but are not limited to
• Ensure all MSHA regulations as well as all Graymont standards and best practices are followed by all on shift • Perform all needed pre-shift examinations on all plant and mobile equipment involved in tasks each day • Utilize the take 5 program daily • Ensure the quarry roads and berms are maintained and in good condition by performing daily inspections • Address and remedy safety concerns throughout the quarry to the extent of competency and capability • Ensure that JDE work orders are generated for the issues outside of individual ability to remedy • Maintain a daily log of activities, equipment maintenance, and footage • Perform lubrication, fuel and minor maintenance to equipment daily as needed • Ensure that the quarry equipment and working areas are kept in a clean and orderly manner • Work independently and safely to develop multiple benches and roads in the quarry • Operate and maintain GPS for drill patterns and ore control • Continue to develop quarry and drilling/blasting knowledge through training with the current drillers • Ensure that all daily and weekly clean-up duties are attended to prior to finishing shift • Wash and clean assigned mobile equipment on a regular basis • Cross train and become proficient on all mobile equipment for vacation coverage and quarry team efficiencies • Rotate equipment usage so everyone remains proficient on all equipment • Collect and process drill samples daily • Safely handle explosives under supervision of lead driller/blaster • Inspect the shot after blast • Flagging of all shots using handheld GPS • May be required to prepare and test quarry samples for analysis • Other duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proven leadership skills with strong interpersonal / people skills • Mechanical aptitude with good troubleshooting skills • Safety oriented in every aspect of the job • Ability to understand and carry out instruction(s) both directly and indirectly • Effective communications skills • Team player, proactive with strong multi-tasking skills • Self-starter with the ambition to improve overall plant atmosphere • ATF certification required.
