What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Assistant position at graybar?
About Shepherd Electric Supply Since 1892, Shepherd Electric Supply has been the first call when complex, time-critical electrical challenges need to be solved, and reliability truly matters. We move materials accurately and on time, so contractors stay on schedule, projects stay on track, and customers never have to wonder if we will come through. Our success comes from people who take pride in doing things the right way — safely, accurately, and with care for teammates and customers alike. If you want to do work that matters at a company that notices, this is the place. Why This Role Matters Warehouse performance depends on more than movement — it depends on accuracy, documentation, communication, and follow-through. The Operations Assistant ensures that administrative precision supports frontline execution. When reports are accurate, fuel tax processes are handled correctly, and return or delivery concerns are addressed early, small issues do not become costly problems. This role protects margin, strengthens customer trust, and supports leadership visibility. Work Shift and Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm Compensation Details: The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $22.00 - $26.00 per hour depending on experience. How This Role Connects to Our Compass We Keep Our Promises: Your reports go out on time, your documentation is accurate, and your assigned processes run without errors. When a return or delivery concern comes in, you address it before it becomes an escalation. The team counts on you to keep the administrative side clean. We Stay Hungry: You are always looking for a better way to organize, report, or streamline. You notice when a process takes longer than it should, and you bring it up. You do not just complete tasks — you ask whether they are being done the right way. We Grow Together: You support drivers, warehouse associates, and leadership with equal care. Your cross-training makes the team more flexible. When the shipping manager is out, the operation does not skip a beat because you are prepared to cover it. We Own It: When a report is wrong, you fix it — and you figure out why it was wrong. When a compliance process has a gap, you close it. You do not wait to be asked and you do not pass problems to someone else. If it is in your lane, you own it through to resolution. We Go Above & Beyond: You do not hand off a problem — you hand off a solution. You stage the second run before anyone asks. You flag the fuel tax discrepancy before it becomes a compliance issue. You see what is coming and prepare for it. Key Outcomes - Organized by what matters, not just what you do.
