What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tow Dispatcher (Full-Time) position at Gray's Towing?
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our fast-paced and growing team at Gray’s Towing. The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure, have excellent memory and multitasking skills, and possess a professional, solution-oriented demeanor.
This is a rotating position between our three locations. We operate 24/7, so flexibility is essential. Some nights and every other weekend are required once fully trained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer inbound calls for towing, impounds, and accident recovery services with detail and accuracy.
- Dispatch up to 30 drivers and trucks (light to heavy-duty) across Eastern Carolina.
- Prioritize and coordinate service calls based on urgency, driver availability, and customer needs.
- Respond to impound inquiries and explain release requirements in accordance with towing and impoundment laws.
- Handle cashiering and paperwork for vehicle releases, often in tense or emotional situations.
- Perform administrative tasks, including billing, auditing, and account reconciliation.
- Maintain organized workspaces and assist with light office cleaning duties.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional computer, typing, and data entry skills.
- Previous billing, clerical, or dispatching experience is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stay calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in using Google Maps and familiar with Eastern Carolina roads and landmarks.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Able to retain and process evolving information and procedures.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating schedule.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and submit to random screenings.
