Job Summary/Description:
Produce WAFB’s award-winning 10 pm newscast with dynamic showcasing featuring live breaking news and weather coverage.
Overnight shift 11:30 pm – 7:30 am; college degree required.
As an evening news producer, you’ll help lead one of the highest-rated evening newscasts in the country! You’ll build and execute a fast-paced, content-rich show that prioritizes breaking news and weather coverage, delivering accurate, compelling stories to viewers starting their day.In this role, you will:
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Own the newscast from start to finish, stacking, timing, and producing live morning shows.
* Drive breaking news and severe weather coverage, making quick, confident editorial decisions in real time.
* Craft strong, clear writing for anchors and teases that keep viewers engaged.
* Collaborate closely with anchors, other morning producers, meteorologists, reporters, and digital teams to coordinate content across platforms.
* Edit video and build graphics to support storytelling and maintain a clean, professional look.
* Maintain high editorial standards while working efficiently under deadline pressure.
Qualifications/Requirements:
* College degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
* Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging content across platforms
