The New York City office of a global and explanding investment firm is looking for a smart, adaptable Human Resources Generalist who can help to shape the future of HR at a high-performance organization. You will support the day-to-day delivery of HR operations and employee experience across assigned regions, working closely with the VP, Senior HR Generalist to ensure their people processes are running smoothly, their data is reliable, and their employees feel supported. This is a hands-on role with meaningful exposure to a wide range of HR disciplines in a firm that is actively building its People infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with 5-7 years of relevant experience who is comfortable helping create and improve processes, and who is energized by the opportunity to help build something from scratch.
What You’ll Do
People Partnership
- Provide frontline HR support to US employees, responding to policy questions, troubleshooting HR issues, assisting on employee relations matters, and ensuring employees feel heard and supported.
- Support the VP, Senior HR Generalist in delivering People Partner coverage across assigned teams, including issue tracking and stakeholder communications.
- Contribute to the design, resourcing, and administration of People programs with sound judgment and discretion.
- Help reinforce company values and culture through thoughtful employee communications and initiatives.
People Technology & Analytics
- Maintain data accuracy in their HRIS, HiBob, by processing employee lifecycle changes – new hires, transfers, departures, role changes – in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support the development of regular headcount and People analytics reporting, flagging data quality issues and helping to resolve them.
- Act as a first line of support for employee HRIS questions and system access issues.
HR Operations
- Perform core HR operations in the US, especially onboarding, offboarding, work changes, and HRIS data accuracy, ensuring a consistent and positive employee experience especially at key transitions.
- Build self-service resources and documentation, leveraging GitHub, Claude, HiBob, and other technologies to create wikis, FAQs, guides, and templates that empower employees to find answers independently while reducing repetitive inquiries to the People team.
- Collaborate closely with the head of payroll & benefits to answer employee pay and benefits questions and troubleshoot issues.
- Own policy documentation, ensuring templates, handbooks, and guidelines are current and accessible.
- Support employee visa, immigration, and global mobility needs by overseeing and project managing visa application processes, secondments, and international moves to and from the United States.
People Team Building & Improvements
- Have a stake in shaping the identity of the People function at the company – ensuring People efforts enable a thriving, future-ready workforce.
- Help translate strategic goals into actionable plans, enable the execution of those plans, track and communicate progress, and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Contribute to improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to eliminate friction points, leverage automation and AI tools, and create scalable systems to support organizational growth.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; PHR or SHRM-CP in progress is a plus.
- 5-7 years of HR experience in a professional services, financial services, or fast-paced corporate environment; prior exposure to a hedge fund, asset manager, or startup is a strongluy preferred.
- Foundational knowledge of HR practices across generalist disciplines – benefits, employee relations, HRIS, performance management.
- Experience with an HRIS platform (HiBob, Workday, or similar); strong working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets.
- Someone with low ego who thrives on collaboration, who looks for opportunities to make things better, who loves giving and receiving feedback, and who wants to do HR for the future in very human ways.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a growth mindset – you don’t need a perfect playbook to do excellent work.
- High degree of personal organization and attention to detail; able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines without dropping the ball.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate clearly with employees and managers at all levels.
Salary : $150,000 - $180,000
