 A brief summary

We are looking for a skilled Travel Broadcast Engineer to join Gravity Media’s Team to help shape and drive the operation and maintenance of the production layer and supporting technologies of our client’s global esports broadcast operations. The position is based out of Des Moines, Washington, with a high volume of travel. 


If successful, you will be assigned to the Esports Event Technology Global Events Travel Team. You will work across Riot Games’ esports broadcasts, featuring championships and tournaments from titles League of Legends, VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics and Riftbound. 



What you’ll be responsible for

  • Travel globally up to 70% of the time.
  • Maintain the production and technical infrastructures of the fly-aways. This includes production equipment, content management platform, communications systems, graphics, video systems, processing and transcoding and the Engineering core.
  • Maintain and contribute to the operations of our client's Remote Broadcast Centes.
  • Determine methods and procedures on new work efforts for you / your wider team and operate with initiative 
  • Experience and level of comfort solving highly complex and diverse problems that require an ability to evaluate multiple variables 
  • Maintain control, efficiency, and visibility over the fly-away’s technology, its maintenance and serve as a point of escalation for the on-site team to analyze troubleshoot and solve technical problems 
  • Monitor and manage on premise and cloud resources
  • Coordinate production activities with the other technical centers 
  • Work with the Esports engineering and IT teams to create better in-house systems for movement and management of content, monitoring streams and enhancing quality of service metrics 
  • Performing regular reporting on performance of the fly-aways by identifying and tracking data for KPI 


This role is for you if

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working in a video ecosystem, with strong fundamentals in live video content production workflows and related production technologies. 
  • Strong understanding of SMPTE 2110 and related workflows. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills – ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in both oral and written forms. 
  • Good organizational skills – ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a live and high-pressure environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • video and audio transmission
    • broadcast monitoring
    • camera channels, vision, switchers, sound mixer technology.
    • Broadcast graphics systems and data integration.
    • EVS XT servers, IPDirector, XTAccess or similar.
    • File encoding formats and delivery mechanisms
    • Structured cable systems and cable patching and routing. 
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds. 
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight.
  • Ability to travel globally.
