Specialist, OBD Integration Engineer
Location: Novi, Michigan (Onsite 4-5 days/week)
Required Experience
- 5 years of experience in Automotive E/E Integration, Diagnostics, Powertrain, Software Validation, or OBD System Integration.
- Experience integrating OBD-II diagnostic functions across multiple ECUs and vehicle domains.
- Strong experience with DTC handling, monitor execution, readiness behavior, fault management, and cross-ECU communication.
- Experience working in Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead OBD integration across vehicle software and hardware architectures.
- Coordinate implementation of OBD requirements across Powertrain, Energy, Thermal, Chassis, and Body domains.
- Ensure proper interaction between OBD monitors, diagnostic events, vehicle states, startup, driving, charging, and degraded modes.
- Integrate and validate DTC behavior, fault propagation, readiness states, and diagnostic consistency across distributed systems.
- Collaborate with OBD engineers, software teams, controls engineers, requirements teams, and validation teams.
- Analyze diagnostic issues using vehicle data, HIL/MIL results, network traces, and drive root-cause analysis.
- Support integration testing, fault injection, validation activities, and release readiness.
- Ensure traceability from requirements through validation and testing.
- Support prototype builds, vehicle integration activities, and software release validation.
- Work with architecture teams to support OTA updates, centralized diagnostics, and future SDV capabilities.
