What are the responsibilities and job description for the LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE--ONCOLOGY position at Graves Gilbert Clinic?
Very busy Department of Oncology seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to perform standard duties within scope of practice. Registered Nurses will also be considered for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care primarily within the Injection Room, including
pediatric vaccinations. - May include scheduling appointments, obtains pre-certification, does patient call back as directed.
- Provides I.V. care for patients according to Clinic standards and certification if needed.
- Provides medical treatments including injections/immunizations as directed by the physician.
- Records vital signs, medication administered and performs other tasks within the EMR.
- Assists with patient teaching and planning.
- Assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Prepare equipment and assists physician with medical treatments, exams and surgical procedures if needed.
- Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
- Complies with the System's infection control policies and procedures including Body Substance Isolation (BSI) and the Exposure Control Plan which reflects OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate books and manuals.
- Other duties as necessary / assigned.
Qualifications:
- One year experience in related field of nursing and/or area of specialty.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with high focus on quality patient care.
- Proficient computer skills with EMR experience.
- Adhere to HIPAA/OSHA/BLOODBORNE PATHOGEN regulations; maintain required workplace trainings.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider training (BCLS).
- IV Certification helpful.
