What are the responsibilities and job description for the LABORATORY ASSISTANT/PHLEBOTOMIST--FCC position at Graves Gilbert Clinic?
All aspects of Reference Lab functions within the Graves Gilbert Clinic Laboratory; Phlebotomy duties on
occasion. This position will float between Scottsville Rd. and FCC Walk in Clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs phlebotomy procedures with high focus on attention to detail; properly identifying the
patient prior to obtaining the specimen and accurate labeling of the specimen. - Performs EKGs as well as assistance with other laboratory functions.
- Releasing orders from LIS on patients.
- Maintains the necessary precautions to follow bloodborne pathogen guidelines.
- Entering orders on patients in the LIS.
- Monitors and reports equipment functionality to appropriate personnel.
- May assist in orienting new employees or students regarding functions of the department.
- May involve some Medical Assisting duties.
- On occasion, may involve assisting satellite laboratory locations.
- Other duties as necessary or assigned
Qualifications:
- May have 1 or more years of college or vocational or technical school training without a
degree or certification AMT, ASCP, NCA or similar certification in phlebotomy helpful but
not required. - Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal relations and effective
communication skills - Must be willing to travel between satellite locations with reliable transportation.
- Experience in phlebotomy is highly preferred.
- Customer service experience highly preferred.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant experience helpful but not required.
