What are the responsibilities and job description for the FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN position at Graves Gilbert Clinic?
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including air handlers, split systems, rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and exhaust fans.
- Monitor system performance and complete diagnostics to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Adjust system controls and perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal operation and energy efficiency.
- Respond promptly to service calls related to climate control issues across multiple facilities.
- Maintain and update maintenance records, service logs, and inspection reports.
- Ensure HVAC systems are compliant with ASHRAE standards and all applicable local, state, and federal codes.
- Collaborate with other facilities team members on general building maintenance tasks and emergency repairs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
- Support infection control, air quality, and temperature regulation in patient care areas.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
Qualifications:
- HVAC certification (EPA Section 608 Certification required; HVAC journeyman license preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on HVAC experience, preferably in a healthcare or commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of HVAC principles, troubleshooting techniques, and control systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in safe use of HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or technical certification in electrical systems strongly preferred.
- Valid electrician license or journeyman certification (if applicable in your state) preferred.
