Position Details
- Title: Store Manager
- Location: Willow Pass Store
- Reports To: Owner / Director of Operations
- Schedule: Full-time; availability required including early mornings, weekends, and some evenings
Position Overview
The Gratitude Store Manager is the heartbeat of our cafe. You are responsible for creating an exceptional guest experience, leading a high-performing team of baristas, and ensuring the day-to-day operations of our Willow Pass Store run smoothly and profitably. This role blends strong people leadership with a passion for coffee craft, community building, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Scheduling
- Build and manage weekly staff schedules covering all shifts, ensuring adequate coverage across R1 barista and Shift Lead / B1 roles
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and train baristas to deliver consistent, high-quality beverage experiences
- Coach and develop Shift Leads to run shifts independently and uphold Gratitude standards
- Manage labor costs, targeting efficient scheduling without sacrificing service quality
- Conduct regular performance conversations, address attendance issues, and foster a positive team culture
Guest Experience & Beverage Quality
- Champion the Gratitude guest experience — warm, welcoming, and community-focused from first greeting to last sip
- Ensure consistent execution of our full drink and food menu
- Maintain drink quality standards across all size offerings and variety
- Handle guest feedback with grace, resolving issues promptly to protect and build our reputation
Financial & Business Management
- Own store P&L awareness including revenue tracking, payroll management, and cost of goods
- Lead pricing strategy execution — including annual price adjustments
- Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to minimize waste and maintain par levels
- Identify revenue opportunities including catering, gallon carafes, and in-house events
- Support decisions around operating hours and labor deployment based on traffic and revenue data
Operations & Compliance
- Ensure the cafe is clean, well-stocked, and operationally ready for every shift
- Maintain food safety, health code compliance, and equipment maintenance standards
- Open and close the store, manage cash handling, and oversee end-of-day procedures
- Implement and uphold all Gratitude SOPs, ensuring consistency across every touchpoint
Qualifications
Required
- 2 years of cafe, coffee shop, or food & beverage management experience
- Proven ability to lead, schedule, and develop a team of 8-15 staff members
- Strong knowledge of espresso-based beverages, tea drinks, and specialty coffee
- Experience managing labor costs and reading basic financial reports
- Availability for early morning shifts starting at 6:30 AM and weekend coverage
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
- Food Handler's Card / ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)
Preferred
- Experience with scheduling software (e.g., Square Scheduling)
- Background in specialty coffee or barista training
- Experience in a high-volume, community-oriented cafe environment
