What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional- DDI position at Grassroots Self-Direction?
*NOTE* This role is for a person who lives in Northport to assist with skills pertaining for helping to find a job. Independent living and social skill reinforecment may be needed too. Pay rate is $24-$27/hr, but pay raises and amount of hours offered can be increased based on performance and consistency. Vaccination for COVID-19 preferred. Benefits are only eligible for working 30 hours/week with DDI.
AVAILABILITY NEEDED: Flexible but schedule & final amount of hours would be set by family.
Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff are an integral members of a team environment to best support individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities who choose to self direct their lives. Staff will implement the goals outlined in their plans that they choose to work out in order to enrich and better their lives. Each person’s plan is driven by the individual’s wants and needs. The self hired staff will be responsible for reading each plan to learn the individualized goals and assist the individual in implementing those goals. The self hired staff will assist each individual in reaching his/her maximum level of independence and power of potential by promoting a sense of self-worth, acceptance, achievement, citizenship, personal growth and personal choice. The self hire staff will possess a professional, patient (tolerant) understanding manner and work to maintain a calm, kind, caring and safe environment for the individuals we serve in their home and the community.
