Position Title : Ophthalmic Technician - Retina Clinic
Location : Grassi Retina : Naperville, IL
Employment Type : Part-Time, potential for Full-Time, Hourly 30-40 hours/week - consistent with patient census
Work Hours :
- We are open Monday through Saturday with clinic hours varying depending on patient volume and patient emergencies.
- We are closed on Sundays and for most major holidays.
Salary : Commensurate with experience and certifications.

Position Overview :
Ophthalmic technicians are needed in our retina clinic to assist with procedures, eye exams and advanced patient care tasks.
This position will report to our Nurse Clinic Director and will be responsible for maintaining and updating our protocols so that they achieve our standard of Expert Medical Retina Care as well as evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collect patient histories and vital signs
- Measure visual acuity
- Perform diagnostic tests such as visual field testing
- Assist MD during ocular procedures and train new staff accordingly: IVIs, lasers, photodynamic therapy, pneumatic retinopexy
- Inspect instruments and power equipment prior to use to assure operational order
- Manage office duties
Requirements:
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
- Current BLS for healthcare provider CPR or CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification.
- Previous experience helpful but not necessary. We will train from the ground up to our specifications.
- Applicants must be detail oriented, highly professional, and exhibit excellent communication skills and attendance record.
