About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and personable Estate Sale Merchandising Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. This role focuses on the "Retail & Revenue" side of the business—pricing, aesthetic presentation, and customer service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an eye for design, an interest in vintage/antique goods, and a passion for customer interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Research & Pricing: Identify and research household goods and collectibles. You must be able to recognize marks or quality indicators to ensure accurate pricing.
- Merchandising & Presentation: Fine-tune the staging of merchandise to create appealing displays; clean and polish high-value items to maximize their appeal.
- Customer Engagement & Crowd Control: Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during high-traffic "morning rushes" and effectively manage customer inquiries.
- Sales Operations: Assist in tracking transactions and using point-of-sale (POS) systems. Monitor the floor to restage items as they sell.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Communication & Conflict Resolution: Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to handle negotiations or high-pressure situations with professional grace.
- Legibility: Neat and consistent handwriting for writing customer tickets.
- Tech Savvy: Ability to use your own smartphone for real-time price research, operating POS systems, and receiving shift/scheduling information via company apps.
- Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills with an eye for brands, quality, and condition.
- Availability: Primarily weekend availability (Friday–Sunday) for live sale days. Sometimes sales may start on a Thursday, and there will be 1-2 days before the sale for pricing
- Reliability: Able to get to sales across the Reno area on time; willingness to travel within a 60-mile radius.
