Graphite Hill Farm is hiring!
We are looking for a horse farm assistant for Saturdays and Sundays for 5 hours per day, starting at 7am each day. (Approximately 5-15 hours per week total). This job is EVERY Saturday and Sunday.
Graphite Hill Farm is a small private boarding facility in Greenfield, NY with 12 stalls. Duties include stall cleaning, horse turn out, feeding/watering, and other barn chores. Each paddock has a hydrant and heated water tub, so you won’t be lugging buckets or breaking ice. The barn is new, insulated, and well vented (warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer). Due to our efficient layout, you won’t have to push wheelbarrows through the snow or mud. Ideal working hours start at 7:00am, but there may be some flexibility. Additional hours may be available (evening chores and other tasks such as dragging rings with the tractor and additional grounds maintenance).
You MUST have your own reliable transportation (preferably your own car), a valid driver's license, and a cell phone. You must have experience working with large horses (we have Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds - mostly hunter/jumpers) and be able to lift up to 50 pounds (hay and grain bags). You must be comfortable working alone, leading large, potentially spooky horses, and be familiar with basic horse first aid and notice signs of colic/discomfort. Smoking is not allowed on the farm property. Please email your resume with horse experience (personal or work-related) and references.
