Job Summary
Reporting to a General Counsel, this role is responsible for supporting the business on a broad range of commercial and technology-focused legal matters, with a primary focus on drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements. The role will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to enable business objectives while managing legal and commercial risk.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, supplier, and partner contracts
- Provide legal support on technology-focused transactions, particularly within hardware and semiconductor-related contexts
- Advise internal stakeholders on contractual rights, obligations, and risk mitigation strategies
- Support negotiations of agreements governed by US law and international frameworks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, procurement, finance, and engineering
- Contribute to the development and improvement of standard contract templates and processes
- Provide guidance on intellectual property and licensing considerations within commercial agreements
- Assist with open source software licensing matters where relevant
- Manage multiple transactions simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business priorities
- Support broader corporate and legal initiatives as required
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction with strong commercial legal training
- Significant experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts in a technology-focused environment
- Experience working with agreements governed by the laws of multiple jurisdictions, primarily California and Texas, but also including the laws of England and Wales
- Strong understanding of contract law and risk allocation principles
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders
- Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, international environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
Desirable
- Experience within the semiconductor or hardware industry
- In-house legal experience within a technology company
- Familiarity with intellectual property licensing
- Exposure to open source software licensing
- Experience working across UK and US legal framework
