Night Custodian

Primary Purpose:

 Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment

Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies

Ability to work overtime as required

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, restrooms, etc.

Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities

Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed

Report major repair needs to supervisor

Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency

Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

Report immediately any unusual happenings in the building

Ability to work multiple campuses

Ability to work alone or as part of a team

Maintain confidentiality

Participate in meetings and training sessions as designed by District staff

Regular and consistent attendance

All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 None

Equipment Used:

 Buffer, automatic scrubber, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, hand tools, extractor, vacuum cleaner, etc.

Working Conditions:

 Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting and carrying

Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders

 Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials

Other:

 Full time employees should take two fifteen minute breaks and a thirty minute lunch at scheduled times
