What You’ll Do:
As the Elections Specialist, you'll provide essential support to the Director of Elections across a wide range of duties related to voter registration, election logistics, data entry, and community outreach. You'll be a central figure in ensuring a smooth, fair, and accessible election process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and verify voter registrations, print and mail voter cards.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining polling places, laptops, tabulators, and other voting equipment.
- Support early voting (one-stop) and Election Day operations, helping voters and resolving issues.
- Train seasonal election staff and assist with ballot preparation and distribution.
- Maintain accurate voter registration files and enter election results.
- Attend Board of Elections meetings, assist with absentee ballot requests and coordinate with external agencies.
What You Bring:
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for voter data entry and verification.
- Working knowledge of election procedures or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Proficiency with computers, office software, and modern office practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the public, staff, and officials.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision and to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in administrative or clerical work, especially involving the public. Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements
Must have or be willing to obtain NC State Board of Elections Certification. Notary Public Certification (or ability to obtain within the timeframe set by the Board).
Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
