TITLE OF VACANCY: Special Education Resource Teacher
LOCATION: Grant Middle School
CONTRACT PERIOD: 180 days
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
REQUIRMENTS/QUALIAFICATIONS:
- Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 middle school endorsement
- Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with teachers, students, parents and staff
- Clear knowledge of adopted elementary curriculum and implementation
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring experience
- Strong Behavior Management
- Ability to informally assess learning and behavioral needs of students
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work under the direction of the building principal
- Participate in the development of comprehensive Individual Education Plans for identified students
- Provide instruction as determined by the students’ IEPs
- Work collaboratively with staff to implement students’ IEP goals
- Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning or behavioral problems
- Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school’s efforts
- Provide professional development to staff as identified by individual building needs
