What are the responsibilities and job description for the Endoscopy Technician - PRN position at Granite Peaks Gastroenterology?
Granite Peaks Gastroenterology/Endoscopy is seeking a PRN Endoscopy Technician to work Wednesdays and Thursdays for our Sandy Endoscopy Center. Our office is growing and we are looking for a professional and motivated individual to join our team.
Responsibilities
Endoscopy Technician responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting the physician during Endoscopy and Colonoscopy procedures.
- Maintaining working knowledge of scopes, maintenance, and care.
- Assist in the performance of dilations, polypectomy, and biopsy.
- Label specimens correctly.
- Assist in transport of patient to recovery.
- Communicate patient information to the recovery RN.
- Prepare room, anticipate and check all equipment needs prior to procedure.
- Treat family and patients with respect and dignity.
- Carry out medical and procedural aseptic techniques and universal precautions.
- Meet current documentation standards and policies and complete them during each workday.
- Assist in the positioning of the patient.
- Report changes in the patient’s condition or reports of pain appropriately to RN or physician.
- Assist in Code situations.
- Maintain a safe environment for patient, coworkers and self.
- Assist in the par levels and need for supplies by tracking and reporting to the Director or Center director.
- Maintain logs needed in the cleaning area for chemicals and equipment use.
- Assist in the patient’s care reflecting the needs of the patients, families and the facility
- Performance reflects knowledge in all areas of care specific to outpatient/ambulatory care, equipment safety, cleaning, maintenance, and procedures.
- Utilize personal initiative, maintain a steady level of productivity, must be a self-starter and a compatible and supportive team player.
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to the Center Director and Director of Nursing.
- Perform other jobs as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited high school or equivalent.
- Able to read and communicate English language.
- Basic computer knowledge
- BLS
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or Surgical Technology program
- Prior Endoscopy experience
- 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training.
