Granite City Slag, located in Granite City, IL, is currently hiring laborers to fill positions for experienced Aggregate Processing. The Aggregate Processing employee is responsible for performing a variety of physical, hands‑on tasks to support the slag crushing and screening operations. This role ensures safe, efficient material handling and maintains a clean, organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily plant operations including loading and general cleanup.
- Support slag processing activities such as crushing, screening, and moving material.
- Operate basic equipment and hand tools.
- Monitor work areas for hazards and report unsafe conditions.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks as directed by supervisor. May include preventative maintenance and repair of all crushing and screening equipment.
- Follow all plant safety policies, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Basic understanding of industrial or construction safety.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and around heavy equipment.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Previous experience in crushing and screening of aggregate is preferred.
- Maintenance experience a plus.
- OSHA safety training is a plus
Physical Requirements
Must be able to pass the pre-employment drug tests ( Urine and Hair Follicle) and work steps testing.

Starting pay rate $30.00/hour – increase to $31/hour effective 9/1/2026
