What You’ll Do
- Inspect, diagnose and repair diesel trucks and heavy equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and annual inspections
- Troubleshoot Cummins, Mack and Detroit Diesel engines
- Diagnose and repair electrical, air brake, steering, suspension, drivetrain, HVAC and hydraulic systems
- Diagnose and repair ECMs, TCMs and ACMs
- Perform transmission, differential and suspension repairs based on skill level
- Utilize fleet maintenance software to review vehicle history, document repairs and complete work orders
- Respond to service calls and equipment breakdowns as needed
- Fabricate and weld components when required
- Maintain a clean, safe and efficient work environment
- Communicate with drivers and operators to improve equipment reliability
- Support and mentor less experienced mechanics as appropriate
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with heavy-duty trucks, fleet vehicles or heavy equipment
- Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes and emissions systems
- CDL Class B with air brakes preferred, or ability to obtain
- Michigan Heavy Duty certifications preferred
- ASE certifications a plus
- Ability to supply personal hand tools
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
- Ability to pass physical and pre-employment and random drug screens (including marijuana)
