We have an immediate opening for a Full-Time Medical Assistant/Pulmonary Function Tech in our Sleep and Lung clinic in Murray, UT.

Overview

• Candidate will work closely with physicians and support staff to provide patient care including: telephone triage, insurance authorizations, recording of vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, etc.), administration of immunizations, phlebotomy, maintenance of exam rooms and filing.
  
  

Position includes both Medical Assistant duties as well as pulmonary function testing and overnight oximetry (we will train for these).

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Excellent customer service skills able to communicate courteously and effectively to patients.
• Typing / keyboarding skills, 40 wpm.
• Basic arithmetic, computer and analytical skills.
• Must be dependable, flexible, and multi-task oriented.
• Enjoy working with people, being a team player and willing to help others with tasks.
• Must be able to read, communicate and write well in English.
• Must be able to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing with Physicians, clinic staff and patients.
• Additional languages helpful but not required.
  
  

Essential Functions And Duties

• Answer phones, schedule appointments and greet patients for medical or other services.
• Record all demographic information necessary to contact patients and do prior authorization for medications and procedures.
• Prepare patients for exams and supply the provider with all relevant information (lab results, vital signs, medications, allergies).
• Communicate with patients regarding their appointment scheduling and other needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Education And Experience

• High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year Medical Office experience required
• Additional respiratory or sleep clinic experience preferred
  
  

Certifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  
  

Pay Range: $15 - $18/hr, based on experience and education

Experience

• Prior experience conducting spirometry, plethysmography, diffusion capacity, and bronchial challenge testing.
• Familiarity with sleep studies or overnight oximetry equipment.
  
  

Technical Skills

• Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Athena).
• Ability to calibrate and maintain pulmonary testing equipment.
  
  

Compliance Knowledge

• Understanding of HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
• Knowledge of infection control protocols in respiratory testing.
  
  

Soft Skills

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  
  

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Standing and walking for extended periods, Lifting up to 50lbs.
• Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment.
• Inside, climate-controlled working conditions.
