Job Description

 

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED required. Must meets federal/state required qualifications (72 college quarter credits or completion of the ParaPro test with a score of 455 or higher). Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred. Basic understanding of technology and ability to learn new digital tools quickly. Successfully pass background check, including criminal history. 

 

REPORTS TO: The Building Principals

 

JOB GOAL: To provide assistance and support to teachers and students in carrying out a quality instructional program.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Paraprofessional Instructional Assistant shall:

 

  1. Provide instruction to students through educational activities as assigned and supervised by the certificated staff.
  2. Strong familiarity with Windows Operating System,iPads and Chromebooks
  3. Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office,Outlook, Google Chrome
  4. Serve as the mentor for online learning students, tracking their academic progress through weekly check-ins via phone calls or in-person meetings, providing online and tech support, and effectively communicating progress and/or concerns to both the student and their parent/guardian.
  5. Assist the teacher in preparation, maintenance, assembly and return of instructional materials and equipment.
  6. Assist in scoring, collecting, organizing and recording data and information as needed.
  7. Assist with proctoring state assessments
  8. Maintain and assist in the preparation of various files, records, reports, etc. as directed.
  9. Assist in the supervision of students as assigned within the school building, on the school grounds, or on field trips.
  10. Function in compliance with guidelines established as criteria for each specific program as funded.
  11. Participate in inservices, staff development, and growth activities which will enhance job performance and the mission and vision of the school and district.
  12. Engage in professional learning to work towards the completion of the Para educator Fundamental Course of Study and receive the Para Educator General Certificate.
  13. Be in attendance and on time to each assigned duty.
  14. Respect and hold in confidence all information and observations of a personal nature pertaining to students, parents, and faculty.
  15. Maintain a neat and clean appearance, be suitably dressed, and present a pleasant demeanor. Acts as a positive role model to children.
  16. Assist in gathering materials relevant for use in units or topics of study as directed by the certificated staff.
  17. Assist in following a designated procedure for storing and checking books and other supplemental instructional materials.
  18. Perform non-instructional duties such as supervision of students during non-instructional times.
  19. Work cooperatively with students, staff, administration, and parents.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by building administrators or federal programs/assessment director.

Be able to perform job tasks as follows:

  1. Lift and carry 10-50 lbs. frequently.
  2. Use push and pull methods to move products in the work area.
  3. Store products requiring arm extension, straight and overhead reaching, kneeling,bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
  4. Be on feet the majority of the work shift.
  5. Be of general good health.
  6. Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  7. The employee will work near or with mechanical equipment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

LENGTH: 190 contract days (includes 10 paid holidays)

SCHEDULE: As assigned by building principal.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Determined by experience and college credits, as per state law and local board policy.

EVALUATION: At least once annually by May 30th. New Employees will remain on probation for one hundred twenty (120) workdays.
