JOB TITLE: CTE Skilled Trades and Agricultural Technologies Teacher

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate CTE endorsement or ability to obtain required certification.
  • Experience and/or background in agricultural education, agricultural technologies, skilled trades, fabrication, mechanical systems, small engine technology, construction trades, or related fields. 
  • Must successfully clear criminal history check. 
  • Experience working with secondary-aged students preferred.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or CTE Director

 

JOB GOAL: To provide engaging Career and Technical Education (CTE) instruction through hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for college, careers, industry certifications, and workforce opportunities. The instructor will support the development of strong student leadership programs, career-connected learning opportunities, and a comprehensive CTE pathway that promotes student engagement and successful transitions from middle school through high school. 

 

Current program offerings may include agricultural sciences, agricultural mechanics, fabrication, small engine technology, and related skilled trades courses. Course assignments may evolve based on student interest, industry needs, certification opportunities, and district priorities.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses aligned with Washington State CTE standards.
  2. Provide instruction in agricultural technologies, skilled trades, fabrication, mechanical systems, agricultural mechanics, small engine technology, and related career-connected learning opportunities.
  3. Develop engaging hands-on learning opportunities in classroom, laboratory, shop, and outdoor learning environments.
  4. Promote student leadership, employability skills, technical skill development, and career readiness.
  5. Collaborate with middle school and high school staff to strengthen student recruitment, pathway development, and successful transitions into CTE programs.
  6. Maintain flexibility in instructional programming to meet student interests, industry needs, certification opportunities, and district priorities.
  7. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom, shop, laboratory, and learning environment.
  8. Ensure compliance with district safety procedures, industry safety standards, and equipment safety protocols.
  9. Serve as advisor for an approved Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and support student participation in leadership development activities, competitions, conferences, fairs, and community events.
  10. Prepare students for Career Development Events, Leadership Development Events, industry competitions, certifications, and related opportunities.
  11. Coordinate and supervise work-based learning opportunities, student projects, exhibitions, fairs, and community-based experiences as appropriate.
  12. Assist in the recruitment, retention, and expansion of CTE pathway opportunities while fostering positive relationships with students, families, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
  13. Build partnerships with local businesses, industry representatives, post-secondary institutions, and community organizations to expand student opportunities.
  14. Maintain inventory and oversee the care and maintenance of equipment, tools, facilities, and instructional materials.
  15. Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and community members.
  16. Participate in professional development activities and maintain current industry knowledge, certifications, and CTE requirements.
  17. Prepare for classes, maintain records, and participate in State, Federal, and District reporting requirements.
  18. Engage in professional learning and implement instructional strategies to support multilingual learners.
  19. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  20. Promote high standards of classroom behavior and develop a classroom management plan aligned with school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  21. Foster a positive, inclusive, and multicultural classroom environment.
  22. Supervise students during travel, field trips, competitions, and extended-day activities.
  23. Maintain strict confidentiality.
  24. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Be able to perform job tasks as follows:

  • Lift and carry 10-50 lbs. frequently. • Use push and pull methods to move products in the work area. • Store products requiring arm extension, straight and overhead reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, twisting, and turning. • Be on feet the majority of the work shift. • Be of general good health. • Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. • The employee will work near or with mechanical equipment.

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: Has authority over students and paraeducators as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contractual agreement in accordance with WAC parameters of state laws and the negotiated agreement, the individual contract, district rules and regulations, and administrative directives.

 

LENGTH: 180-day work year.

 

SCHEDULE: 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS: As determined by the Board of Directors, state law, local board policy, and GEA bargaining agreement.

 

FUNDING: This position is dependent on CTE funding and CTE enrollment. Continuation of employment is subject to ongoing CTE funding and program needs.

 

EVALUATION: At least annually on or before May 1st by the building principal or designee. New or probationary employees are evaluated more often as per state law, WACs, GEA contract, and district policy.

 

Salary : $58,540 - $113,216
