Where Payroll Meets PurposeOur Payroll Specialist does more than cut checks. This role keeps our operations running smoothly by working closely with our Payroll Manager to support 450 union and non-union employees across multiple jobsites. You’ll collaborate closely with Accounting, Project Management, and Field Operations to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing.
We’d Count On You To
- Support weekly payroll processing for 450 employees across multiple unions and departments
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax filings and compliance reports
- Manage certified payroll reporting and union fringe benefit calculations for 15 union agreements
- Review, compile, and enter subcontractor timesheets and compliance documentation
- Process employee mileage and expense reimbursements for 300 teammates
- Partner with Accounting and Project teams to streamline workflows and drive process improvements
- Jump in where needed to support cross-functional Accounting tasks during busy cycles
- 4–5 years of administrative or accounting experience (construction industry experience preferred)
- Prior experience processing payroll, with strong understanding of tax and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with Vista/Viewpoint software is a plus, along with strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and PDFs
- Excellent communication skills: you can explain payroll processes with clarity and compassion
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through: you don’t let deadlines slip
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset: you look for ways to improve systems, not just maintain them
