What You'll Do
As a Purchasing & Inventory Specialist, you'll play a critical role in managing inventory across multiple pharmacy locations while helping maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product availability.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage daily purchasing for multiple pharmacy locations
- Develop efficient ordering strategies while maximizing vendor pricing opportunities
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate inventory records
- Analyze inventory reports and key performance metrics to improve inventory accuracy
- Coordinate medication transfers and manage expiring inventory to minimize waste
- Track dropship medications and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Order ancillary pharmacy supplies
- Manage out-of-stock and short-supply medications
- Support physical inventory counts and inventory audits
- Administer Omnicell inventory systems, users, maintenance, and reporting
- Maintain pharmacy inventory databases, NDC updates, and cost updates
- Collaborate with pharmacy teams, vendors, and leadership to resolve inventory issues
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of inventory, purchasing, or supply chain experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Professional attitude and collaborative mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or long-term care pharmacy
- Procurement and inventory control experience
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical products, storage requirements, expiration management, and hazardous materials
- Experience with Omnicell or automated dispensing systems
