Supervisor of Transportation
Full-Year – 8 hours/day
Beginning July 2026
Summary:
Routing of school buses, scheduling special trips, supervision of drivers and mechanical repair, and maintains and promotes good community relations.
Qualifications:
- Valid commercial driver’s license with CDL/bus driver endorsement required.
- Knowledge of school bus traffic laws, safety. Mechanics and routing required.
Responsibilities:
- Establish effective relationships with all district staff, parents and the community.
- Keeps informed of new techniques and operations regarding the transportation department.
- Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of assigned staff including but not limited to scheduling, work assignments, assessment of work performance, provide assistance and support as needed.
- Make periodic on-site bus inspection. Involvement in annual bus inspections made by the Michigan State Police inspector.
- Arrange and conduct periodic bus driver safety meetings.
- Responsible for preparation of accident reports and notifying central office administration.
- Secure, train and assign substitute bus drivers.
- Schedule routine maintenance of buses and supervise bus mechanic.
- Assist with bus purchase specifications.
- Investigate parent complaints. Route student discipline concerns through building administrators.
- Schedule academic and athletic field trips.
